Important New Critical Resource

I'M SICK OF MAINSTREAM MEDIA!!!!

The mainstream media, particularly the cable corporate networks have increasingly become gop spokesentities to the point of blatancy! I will no more waste my time trying to get any 'objective' or balanced information from them, particularly about politics, domestic and otherwise. They are jingoist and have moved to the far right in their perspectives- all of them.

Thus, I encourage everyone to begin to get the majority of their information from alternative sources, such as

DEMOCRACY NOW !

Link TV is where its at people. Support them anyway you can. Read and watch your local alternative media if you are lucky enough to have it. The 'mainstream' media is screwing us with its BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excess Votes for Bush in Florida

Washington Post 12/16/04- from "'Lost' Voters in Ohio":

. . .In Florida, ground zero for 2000's election meltdown, professors and graduate students from the University of California at Berkeley studied this year's voting results, contrasting counties that had electronic voting machines with those that used traditional voting methods. They concluded, based on voting and population trends and other indicators, that irregularities associated with machines in three traditionally Democratic counties in southern Florida may have delivered at least 130,000 excess votes for Bush in a state the president won by about 381,000 votes. The study prompted heated critiques from some polling experts.

Retro Vs. Metro America:

From: The Great Divide Newsletter- 11/17/04, no. 12

HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?

Beyond rumors of rigged voting machines, outright intimidation, and 30,000 other “irregularities”; beyond the DNC’s curious inability to muster any outrage over similar GOP skullduggery in 2000; beyond mainstream media’s apparent disinterest in either story, lies the awesome superiority of Bush’s message, shamelessly tailored to the lowest common denominator within his already narrow, ignorant base.

Had Kerry addressed his more educated, diverse and - most importantly - numerically superior constituency, the margin in Kerry’s favor would’ve been so huge as to render wholesale vote theft impractical. And yes, we did tell you so: The Great Divide predicted this outcome quite clearly - should Democrats continue to tilt at the windmill of national unity. The Divide is permanent - but the good news is that Democrats can make it work for them!

Bush Administration Police State Mentality

WASHINGTON POST
Friday, December 3, 2004; Page A04

Evidence Gained By Torture Allowed

U.S. military panels reviewing the detention of foreigners as enemy combatants are allowed to use evidence gained by torture in deciding whether to keep them imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the government conceded in court yesterday.

The acknowledgment by Principal Deputy Associate Attorney General Brian Boyle came during a U.S. District Court hearing on lawsuits brought by some of the 550 foreigners imprisoned at the U.S. naval base in Cuba. The lawsuits challenge their detention without charges for as much as three years so far.

Attorneys for the prisoners argued that some were held solely on evidence gained by torture, which they said violated fundamental fairness and U.S. due process standards. But Boyle argued in a similar hearing Wednesday that the detainees "have no constitutional rights enforceable in this court."

U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon asked if a detention would be illegal if it were based solely on evidence gathered by torture, because "torture is illegal. We all know that."

Boyle replied that if the military's combatant status review tribunals "determine that evidence of questionable provenance were reliable, nothing in the due process clause [of the Constitution] prohibits them from relying on it."

THIS ADMINISTRATION IS FRIGHTENING!
